A Scape

“A Scape” is devoted to the theme of landscape and its relationship to London as a city. The series intends to work with the renunciation of both supposedly oppositional terms in order to deliberately and fundamentally search for a new space in-between, transforming the city into a strange confined space.
Focused on the peripheral spaces of London, these images do not define the periphery as a ‘green belt’ but rather as ‘displaced areas’ – non-places presented in a state of ambiguity. The viewer perceives mountain or desert-like landscapes, but these places are man-made, abandoned and left to their own devises. The images exist beyond one's own comprehension of a landscape, raising questions of legibility.
'A Scape' was the first photographic series that allowed the artist to emerge on the photographic scene. The work from the time of the first exhibition until the present is included in various group exhibitions and reviewed in different publications.
